Point of Care Ultrasound Scanning.

Musculoskeletal scans use ultrasound imaging to produce images of muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints throughout the body, to assist with a working diagnosis of a musculoskeletal condition / injury or pain.
The real time imaging allows for a more detailed examination of the affected area, which is particularly useful for demonstrating causes of pain and muscle and tendon injuries, as well as being an accessible way to monitor these during treatment and the rehabilitation process

Point of care ultrasound scanning is not used in isolation to obtain an official diagnosis, therefore, if further investigation is required, our team will advise accordingly.

Physiotherapists use their knowledge and skills to improve a range of conditions associated with the different systems of the body. Physiotherapy considers the body as a whole, rather than just focusing on the individual aspects of an injury or illness. A patient’s involvement in their own care is essential and this is achieved through education, awareness, empowerment and participation in their treatment. Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy is a specialised area of physiotherapy that treats injuries and conditions which affect the muscles, joints and soft tissue structures.

Musculoskeletal Acupuncture.

Musculoskeletal acupuncture is a safe, modern treatment approach similar to traditional Chinese acupuncture and involves the strategic placement of sterile needles into various painful locations in the body.

The most widespread application of acupuncture is for pain relief, most commonly musculoskeletal pain, but also other forms of chronic pain such as neuralgia. There is scientific evidence highlighting how acupuncture can help with the short-term relief of various musculoskeletal problems by releasing natural pain-killing and healing chemicals within the body.

Musculoskeletal (MSK) physiotherapy is a specialised area of physiotherapy that treats injuries and conditions affecting the muscles, joints and soft tissue structures of the body, commonly seen in adults, children and young people. MSK physiotherapy restores movement and function and facilitates recovery.

Shockwave Therapy.

Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) is a revolutionary technology that involves shockwaves being passed through the skin to the injured part of the body. The shockwaves are made up of compressed air that is passed at high speed from a hand-held applicator.

The audible, low energy sound waves work by increasing blood flow to the injured area, stimulating cell regeneration and healing and decreasing local factors which can cause pain.

Shockwave Therapy is the most advanced non-surgical and non-invasive treatment available for a wide range of conditions including plantar fasciitis, achilles tendinopathy, hip bursitis, tennis and golfer’s elbow, Osgood Schlatter disease, subacromial shoulder pain and calcific tendonitis of the shoulder.
