Musculoskeletal (MSK) physiotherapy is a specialised area of physiotherapy that treats injuries and conditions affecting the muscles, joints and soft tissue structures of the body, commonly seen in adults, children and young people. Physiotherapists use some of the following approaches:
Education and advice
Physiotherapists can give general advice on work-related posture, including correct lifting or carrying techniques.
Tailored exercise and physical activity advice.
Exercises may be recommended to improve general health and mobility and to strengthen specific parts of the body.
Physiotherapists can use hands-on treatment techniques to help relieve pain and stiffness and to improve flexibility and joint mobility. This can include soft tissue massage and joint mobilisations and manipulations.
Physiotherapy treatment can include sports massage which is the management, manipulation and rehabilitation of the soft tissues of the body including muscles, tendons and ligaments.
For chronic musculoskeletal conditions that have not responded to conservative treatment methods, physiotherapists can administer shockwave therapy. This treatment is a revolutionary treatment that has an excellent success rate.
What our patients say.
I’ve been going to Square One for treatment of my own injuries for several years and I’ve always ben amazed at how quickly they can get me going again. I’ve been prompted to write a review today though having been to see Jennie at Square One with my 11 year old son, who has pains in his knee. The way she spoke to him, treated him and helped him was exceptional. She spoke directly to him the whole time, in a language he could relate to and made him feel comfortable, and confident they can help him get better. I’ve always know these guys were very very good. Today showed me they’re the best. Thank you Jennie, Jenine and team.
