Laura Horobin.

I qualified from the University of Birmingham in 2003 with a BSc (Honours) degree in Physiotherapy. I am a full member of The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, The Health Professions Council and the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists. Soon after graduating, I realised that my interests lay firmly in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and treating these conditions and I began working in the musculoskeletal physiotherapy out-patient department at Basingstoke hospital.

I enjoy treating a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions, from acute sports injures to more chronic neck and back problems. Each patient has a different goal and I am passionate about helping them achieve it. Over the years, I have developed a special interest in low back, sacroiliac joint and pelvic problems.

My role at the hospital also involved supervising junior physiotherapists and educating university students. My special interest in pregnancy-related problems, such as Pelvic Girdle Pain and separated stomach muscles, led to me becoming the lead physiotherapist for ante and postnatal patients at the hospital. I delivered training to the musculoskeletal physiotherapy team in this area and I was on-hand to assist them with more complex patients.

In 2012, I became a member of the Fitback and Bumps team. This is a specialised ante and postnatal education and exercise programme delivered by chartered physiotherapists. It can be delivered as one-to-one physiotherapy sessions or as a small group. I enjoy helping mums to stay as fit as possible during their pregnancy and to regain their stomach muscle function post-natally.

After over 20 years service in the NHS, I decided to make the move in to private practice full-time. I enjoy being able to offer a flexible, timely and thorough service to patients, having the opportunity to work hands-on in treatment sessions and seeing patients as often as I think they should be seen, based on clinical need, not waiting list pressures.
